That’s a Wrap February

March 1, 2017

It is safe to say that February has flown by and not because there are less days in the month. The year feels like it’s jumped into third gear and about to hit the fast lane. We are back with our round up of the past month; we think this is a great way to look back and see all the new memories created.

So here we go…

February Social Highlight/s…

Beca: I visited Borough Market for the very first time and went food crazy, especially at the fish counter when, ‘Half Price Fish!’ was being yelled; check out my Instagram to see our tasty fish dish.

This month I Visited the Royal Festival Hall to watch the Philharmonia Orchestra play all the music from the films directed by Steven Spielberg. Absolutely spectacular!

Lastly, SeekNPlay had some pictures taken by Chloe Knott which have been included in this post. Thank you Chloe!

Yana: I went speed dating with a group of friends which was a pretty interesting experience. Once the cocktails were flowing, everyone was relaxed and we had such a good time. Better than Tinder!

Favourite Film…

Yana: The film of the month for me was Fences, I went on a date and embarrassingly was a blubbering, snotty mess by the end! It’s utterly sublime, and harrowing at the same time!

Beca: Lion staring Dev Patel and the adorable Sunny Pawar. Based on a true story, the film is about a young boy who gets lost on a train that takes him thousands of miles across India, away from everything that he knows. We see how he fights to survive. Such a beautiful story but tissues are needed when watching this film.

Giving up anything for Lent?

Beca: Chocolate! Including anything chocolate flavoured- there will be no cheating. I have never done this before and want the challenge. It really won’t be easy for me as I love chocolate so much, and eat it most days, I am feeling slightly addicted. Let’s see how long I can do, wish me luck.

Yana: I’m not giving up anything for lent as I’m halfway through a month of no sugar or alcohol. I’m not sure I can take much more.

Biggest challenge that you faced in February…

Yana: As I said, no sugar or alcohol has been a huge test for me. It’s showing me how much I rely on sugar when I’m feeling tired or overwhelmed.

Beca: I had an audition for a new writing project this month, a great opportunity and I really wanted it. Sadly I didn’t get it, which is fine as that’s life. But my biggest challenge was how nervous I suddenly felt whilst doing my monologue. Maybe as it was my first one for a while , I know for next time to prepare better and really know my sh**.

Which Blogger/ Youtuber have you been following and enjoying this month

Beca: Hello October by Suzie Bonaldi, a Blogger and Vlogger who comes across really charismatic and just overall lovely in her videos. She covers everything from beauty and fashion, to travelling and special events.

Yana: I’m absolutely obsessed with Grace Victory, she’s so relatable and I think that’s what we miss from the YouTube world. Her honesty is hilarious and inspires me to just do whatever I want.

Funniest moment witnessed

Yana: I can’t think of one!

Beca: I can…Pancake day! Yana taking the role of chef for pancake day was flipping her pancake which shot up so quickly that it hit her in the face, shocked Yana who then did a chest pump and then the pancake landed back on to the frying pan. Priceless!

Best buy?

Beca: Needed a new jumper but went for something brighter, I bough bright yellow jumper from Topshop (seen in our picture above) and also tie up choker which I can’t stop wearing.

Yana: This month I’ve been pretty frugal about spending. In fact, I decided to take control of my finances this year and had a meeting at my bank last week. It was more a chat about how to save wisely and budgeting. When I arrived I felt like an irresponsible child with a horrendous spending habit. I feel really uncomfortable talking about money, but sitting down and talking to a professional about my finances made me feel more in control.

Goals for March…

Yana: This month I’ll be packing up my life to go on tour in a show for 7 months. So I’ll be trying to not have a nervous breakdown whilst putting my belongings into storage perhaps?!

Beca: 1) Attend an acting class 2) Attend the gym at least 4 times a week, as I want to feel great in my body for summer 3) More blogging!

We would love to hear your answers to the questions, comment below.

Thank you for reading.

Looking back at the month of January!

January 29, 2017

It’s the month that everyone spends recovering from the Christmas period. Wow, the warm up of 2017 has been a mad one. We hope your year has begun well, here’s a round up of some of our highs and lows with some recommendations thrown in too!

Beca: City of Stars by Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling from La La Land. Gets me every time.

Yana: Woman by Diana Gordon. I’m all about girl power this month!

Podcast or Book?

Yana: Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi is definitely worth the read. It’s about how history shapes us all.

Beca: Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of Eat Pray Love. This is a wonderful book and one that I will keep re-reading.

Something that could have gone better?

Beca: My new years resolution to kick 2017 off to a healthy, fit and chocolate free start hasn’t gone according to plan so far. But February is a new month, and I am not giving up that easily.

Yana: I got ghosted by a guy who appeared be REALLY into me. Timewaster.

Yana: I wrote in ‘I quit the gym’ about how I’ve taken my exercise outdoors!

Beca: Besides hitting the gym. I am keen to start a course of classes; Reformer Pilates at Bootcamp Pilates in Fulham. We went to a taster class at the end of last year which was incredible- Here’s a link to what we got up to.

Film/TV Series?

Beca: I am obsessed with the crime series, Silent Witness on BBC1 staring Emilia Fox and David Caves. Every week there is a 2 part story which keeps you guessing until the end.

Yana: LaLa Land was an absolute masterpiece. When I first heard they were making a musical, I was sceptical but it worked out!

New spot?

Yana: I need to stop spending money on breakfast, but The Dairy in Clapham common does it well!

Beca: Battersea Yoga, their Meditation Class is awesome. My goal is to make Meditation a daily practice in my life.

Personal highlight:

Beca: At the end of last year I found myself in a strange place full of panic and worry, with no clear direction in my life. I had abandoned acting and I was working long hours everyday. Eventually, I decided to reduce my hours at both jobs, accepting the pay cut and dedicate more time to acting and for myself. The change has made a huge difference already, that is a blog post in itself, watch this space.

Yana: The Women’s March on London was unbelievably empowering. 100,000 people marching for equality.

The energy was electric and it was amazing to see what we are capable of when we come together.

We would love to hear from you, tell us about your January…

December 14, 2016

Hi everyone,

Yep, that’s right! We’ve entered our baby blog into the UK Blog Awards.

A workout of a different kind. FaceGym Pro @ Harrods.

May 21, 2016

FaceGym is the UK’s original workout for the face, and this week they introduced us to its new beauty gadget. Described as a ‘no make-up contour’ this sounded great, as whilst Becca is an amazing make-up wizard, I can barely shape an eyebrow. (Becca’s currently in San Diego, lucky thing!).

The device is marketed as a non-invasive face lift. So admittedly I had my reservations to begin with. I still get asked for ID regularly and haven’t decided how I feel about anti-aging procedures yet. Our skin does bear the brunt of our lifestyles though. Sometimes fighting pollution, stress and lack of sleep head on. I’m beginning to look at new ways to keep my skin looking fresh, so threw caution to the wind.

“Cheek sculpting, jaw defining, neck sculpting and forehead lifting”

Using different motions of movement, the FaceGym Pro applies a mild but forceful electric muscle stimulation through the facial muscles. The beautician talked me through the movement, which are as simple as brush strokes. Lifting, sculpting and plumping. So it’s easy peasy to use and as you only spend 5 minutes on each side of your face, its great for those who have little time to spend preening.

As a person with an incredibly low pain threshold, I was secretly terrified that the treatment would hurt, but it didn’t cause any discomfort. It’s hard to explain the feeling, but it was a sort of pulsing throughout the muscles and actually very relaxing. I was sad when the treatment was finished!

Did it work?

Definitely. My skin is a lot tighter and because my treatment focused on plumping my skin, it’s so much smoother than usual. I also had the treatment done on a Friday evening, after a long week at work and it was obvious how much brighter my skin appeared. Removing the look of slight fatigue, I can’t complain one bit!
